The origin of life:

Some people believe palmistry is not a science like astrology, but we can say that palmistry is science, because the lines and shape of the palm never change once they are established.
The theories about the origin of life are not within the limits of knowledge but rather in the limits of philosophy. The meaning and definition of life is the most difficult and direct concept that can be presented to any common philosopher.

When I considered the explanation for the General Theory of the Conditional Evolution of Life (GTCEL) with detail, at first, I thought about not touching on philosophical topics because it was not the principal objective of the book. On the topic of the philosophy of life, there are at least two possible complementary approaches or types of theories on the origin of life and its concept: logic and metaphysics or mysticism.

The first approach to the origin of life is the use of logic; the analysis from the dictionary’s definition and its relationship with the human being and living beings – trying to search for the origin of life or what could be the essence of life, or Life in capital letters.

From the point of view of science, it is interesting to recall that the theories on the origin of life and the very definition of life have been changing with its development and, therefore, it is worth putting a little distance from the specific scientific era in order to arrive to a concept more permanent in time.

The second one is a direct approach to the concept of life from within oneself, where words do not count, where thoughts are so fast that we perceive them only as feelings – those pure feelings that do not need logic because they are coherent in of themselves........

Today, we will start with an overview of the thumbs. I’ll start with them because they say a lot about whether you are prone to getting results and the successes you want in life.

Do you find yourself looking at everyone’s thumb now whenever they moved their hands? It becomes almost an obsession when you first learn these things. It’s really quite curious as to how different thumbs can be. Not all thumbs have the 3 zones; we’ll tlak about that another time.
Today, we’ll move onto an overview of the Index Fingers, or Pointer Fingers.
The Index Fingers are all about Power that is, the roles you play in your life and how in control of these you are.
• They indicate what desires you have and what you want out of life. In other words they indicate what internal wants you have, why you want these things, what your internal agenda is. It’s the idea of power that comes from within you.
• These internal desires are manifested in the choices you make. Now this is very important because the choices you make:
o can either take you where you want to go
o can take on you on detours that can be extremely frustrating, or
o can take you completely off course
• The Index Fingers also indicate how independent you are and whether you are a person who takes the initiative or whether you mainly act upon instruction
• How much do you allow yourself to be swayed by the politics that goes on at work or within your family, community, etc? Your Index Fingers can reveal this
• An associated quality of power is whether you are able to take charge – that also flows on from initiative. If people around you are indecisive, do you take charge? Do you operate from the premise, “Well, someone has to do something”, and so you take on the lead.
• Allied with the above point is the taking of authority in an assertive manner rather than in being a bully
• Your Index Fingers also indicate that being respectful and giving respect to others is important to you and will show up how strong this is in your life. Equally, you will want to be respected.

Any parent would be eager to see that his/her baby is in healthy status when the child is born. They would count the fingers and toes of the baby. If the child does not have a perfect set of 10 fingers and 10 toes, that would usually upset them of the abnormality. Dr. Mohd Iskandar Mohd Amin, Consultant Orthopedic, Hand and Micro surgeon at Pantai Hospital Kuala Lumpur says that seven in 1,000 babies are born with congenital hand deformities worldwide.

Thirty percent of congenital hand deformities are caused by genetic abnormalities, while 10 percent are linked to environmental causes. The remaining 60 percent happens for no known reason.
Dr. Iskandar says that the most common type of congenital hand deformity is caused by developmental problems while the baby is in the womb.

The common types of deformities are:

- Syndactyly (failure of separation)
It has two categories – simple syndactyly (fusion of soft tissues between the two fingers) and complex syndactyly (fusion of soft tissues and bones of two fingers).
- Polydactyly (duplication of extra finger)
It has three categories – Type 1 (an extra finger is attached by the skin and nerves), Type 2 (the extra finger is attached to the bone or joint of the little finger) and Type 3 (a completely formed and functional extra finger attached to the hand).
- Brachydactyly (undergrowth)
The thumb of the fingers is usually small and underdeveloped. Some fingers may be missing.
- Macrodactyly (overgrowth)
The thumb, index finger or forearms are abnormally large due to overgrowth of bone and soft tissue.
- Constriction Band Syndrome
The fingers become malformed because of constriction by the fibrous bands of the amniotic sac which were entangled with the fetus’ fingers in the mother’s womb. Sometimes, the bones, muscles and tissues are joined together like a flower bud.
Dr. Iskandar mentions the irony is that the child often does not feel the hands are abnormal until he/she enters school and undergoes societal pressure. He adds that children being amazingly versatile are usually able to manage their daily life even with their deformed fingers or hands.
He explains; “the parents and the grandparents are the ones who are most distressed when they have children with congenital deformities. They wish to know whether it is hereditary and whether the siblings will have the same deformity.”Another anxiety is about whether the child will have normal function and it will be a cause for undergoing ridicule in later life.
Microsurgery for congenital hand deformities remains a highly specialized surgical or sub-specialty as the surgeon needs to have in-depth knowledge of orthopedics, neurology, plastic surgery and neurosurgery.Undergoing counseling by the parents and grandparents before the surgery is vital to better manage their expectations. It is also good to talk to support giving nurses and parents who are in similar circumstances to share their thoughts, fears and tears.
Dr. Iskandar says that usually surgery helps to improve the appearance of the hands, such as removing an extra thumb or pinky finger.He elaborates, “In some cases, surgery is done to enable the child functioning of the hand, for instance, when a child is having flower bud fingers needing a thumb and forefinger to manage buttons and zippers best. However, sometimes it is not possible to make a child’s hand ‘normal’, but he/she can function well with it, at least.”
In order to reduce physical and psychological scarring, usually surgery is performed within the first two years of the child’s life. It also enables new hand to function with full potential and for new growth and development.
Sometimes congenital hand deformities are a part of other conditions, i.e. Appert Syndrome, an underdeveloped face, nose and skull bone or Holt Cram Syndrome, often accompanied by congenital heart disease.In such situations, it is necessary to correct the other underlying problems first as they are life-threatening issues.

Whether they’re soft and manicured, strong and calloused, weathered and wrinkled—hands come in all shapes and sizes and can often say a lot about you. They can reveal the tattered fingernails of nervous nail biter, the orange fingers of a cheese puff lover, or the worn hands of a grandmother. And when you look even closer at the many lines and wrinkles, is it possible that your hands can reveal even more? Some people believe that clues to our basic selves can be found in the details of our hands. But do our hands really tell us anything of importance about who we really are? Is it possible that the numerous bumps and ridges unique to every hand hold some insight into our level of intelligence or into our love lives?

In an eternal quest for self-discovery, people have looked towards hand readers, among other mystics, to see if the lines in their hands really tell them something meaningful about themselves and their future. In current times, people turn to internet quizzes and online hand reading to make sense of the heart and life lines and the shape of their hands. Although these tests and quizes can be fun, when put to the test of empirical science, most of these claims and predictions cannot be verified. Furthermore, these uncorroborated predictions about personality traits and future events leave palm reading in the category of a pseudoscience.
Despite the inaccuracy of palmistry readings, however, there are aspects of the hands that have been studied empirically, including finger length. When looking at the palm of your hand, fingers straight together, you will likely notice a difference between your second (index) and fourth (ring) fingers. On average women have longer index fingers, compared to ring fingers while men have longer ring fingers compared to index fingers. This association between the two fingers, called the 2D:4D ratio, is related to levels of androgen exposure (a sex hormone higher in men) in the womb. That means that the amount of male hormones a fetus is exposed to determines this very specific detail of finger length in the hands. The precise mechanism by which androgen works is not entirely clear, but in general most theorists believe that increasing androgen exposure will masculinize a fetus. There is also some evidence suggesting that either too much or too little androgen can be feminizing to the fetus.
Because androgen exposure is related to sexual development and masculinization, researchers have begun to wonder if the 2D:4D ratio, as a marker of hormone exposure, may also predict other characteristics. Hormone exposure has been linked to things like general physical health, cognitive abilities, personality, job preferences, attractiveness, and sexual orientation. While the 2D:4D ratio may relate to these developmental characteristics, thus far the evidence supporting such a link is at best described as mixed. For example, there has been much attention dedicated to whether the 2D:4D ratio relates to sexual orientation. While there have been several studies in this area, some have shown no differences between heterosexual and homosexual men in their 2D:4D ratios (e.g., Williams et al., 2000), and others, like Lippa, have shown heterosexual men having lower 2D:4D ratios compared to homosexual men. Similarly with other characteristics like personality and attraction, the research findings have been fairly inconsistent.
Another aspect of the hands that have been conclusively studied are the ridges, the ones that cover the palms and fingers, the ones that make up our unique fingerprints. The study of these ridges is called dermatoglyphics. Similar to the finger length, these ridges are known to be established earlier in the embryonic development, while the fetus is still in the womb. Researchers have shown dermatoglyphic differences between non-deficient people and those with cognitive or genetic abnormalities, like schizophrenia, Down’s syndrome, and intellectual disability. For example, individuals diagnosed with schizophrenia show fewer ridges between two specific points under the second and third fingers [a-b ridge count] compared to non-schizophrenic controls (Bramon et al., 2005). These findings support the idea that changes in the prenatal environment can display its effects in multiple ways, including changes in cognitive development and ridges of the hands. However, the findings do not assume that all people with fewer ridges have cognitive deficiencies.
To summarize, we do know that specific details in our hands are affected by early hormonal exposure and other environmental influences in the womb. And we know that this early exposure also affects other aspects of our development. While it is intriguing to speculate further that details in our hands can predict aspects of our personality or behavior, these conjectures have not been empirically supported. It’s also likely that there are more direct measures of personality, intelligence, and behavioral traits rather than the hands. But even though you can’t currently rely on your hands to unlock all of your mysteries, one thing you can count on is more studies and discussion about them to come.

Left handedness & Right Handedness:

Other reported associations include with higher creativity, a larger corpus callosum, certain right brain regions being larger, shorter transfer time of information between hemispheres, and higher socioeconomic status.

Disadvantages of left-handedness:

Although there is little association with children's school performance in regards to handedness, some studies have shown problems in language development in left-handers.Research has shown left-handers are more likely to have problems with reading and they also "...don't do as well on phonology (the sound system of language) tasks..." when compared with right-hander. Also, in left-to-right languages, if left-handed writers move their left hands across what they have just written, they may smudge their writing. This situation is reversed in right-to-left languages such as Hebrew and Arabic.
Other reported associations that may have decreased evolutionary fitness include shorter adult height, lower weight, puberty at a later age, possibly a shorter life expectancy, increased risk of accidents, increased risk of certain neurological and immunological disorders, and decreased number of children.

It is custom to assume that the left hands shows potential in an individual, and the right showed realized personality. Some sayings about the significance include "The future is shown in the right, the past in the left"; "The left hand is the one we are born with, and the right is what we have made of it"; "The right hand is read for men, while the left is read for women"; "The left is what the gods give you, the right is what you do with it"; "The right hand is read for right-handed people, while the left is read for left-handed people". The choice of hand to read is ultimately up to the instinct and experience of the practitioner.

• Left The left hand is controlled by the right brain (pattern recognition, relationship understanding), reflects the inner person, the natural self, the anima, and the lateral thinking. It could even be considered to be a part of a person's spiritual and personal development. It is the "yin" of personality (feminine and receptive).

• Right As opposites are, the right hand is controlled by the left brain (logic, reason, and language), reflects the outer person, objective self, influence of social environment, education, and experience. It represents linear thinking. It also corresponds to the "yang" aspect of personality (masculine and outgoing).

Depending on the type of palmistry practiced, and the type of reading being performed, palmists may look at various qualities of the hand, including the shapes and lines of the palm and fingers; the color and texture of the skin and fingernails; the relative sizes of the palm and fingers; the prominence of the knuckles; and numerous other attributes of the hands.
In most schools of palmistry, hand shapes are divided into four or 10 major types, sometimes corresponding to the Classical elements or temperaments. • Air hands exhibit square or rectangular palms with long fingers and sometimes protruding knuckles, low-set thumbs, and often dry skin. The length of the palm from wrist to the bottom of the fingers is usually equal to the length of the fingers.

• Water hands are seeable by the short, sometimes oval-shaped palm, with long, flexible, conical fingers. The length of the palm from wrist to the bottom of the fingers is usually less than the width across the widest part of the palm, and usually equal to the length of the fingers.

• Fire hands are characterized by a square or rectangular palm, flushed or pink skin, and shorter fingers. The length of the palm from wrist to the bottom of the fingers is usually greater than the length of the fingers.

The number and quality of lines can also be included in the hand shape analysis; in some traditions of palmistry, Earth and Water hands tend to have fewer, deeper lines, while Air and Fire hands are more likely to show more lines with less clear definition.

Influencial aspect of fate:

Influence lines that do not make it all the way to the fate line represent unsuccessful relationships. Lines that meet with the fate line or that run parallel to it are read as successful relationships, and they may be timed by seeing when they arrive at the fate line.
You can look beyond the convergence of these two lines to see the effect the relationship will have on your life. You should also look at how the fate line and the life line are related. A fate line that touches the life line or even begins inside it shows a strong influence of your parents in your selection of a mate. Our hands are instinctual healing tools. Hand applications are used in a variety of holistic healing therapies.

A recent study, in which I participated, has generated a lot of excitement in the complementary health community and is being called landmark. It was designed and overseen by the NIH and Larry Dossey, MD, and was published in the December 1998 issue of the Western Journal of Medicine. The study was on: "Distant Energy Healing in a Population with Advanced AIDS". The results showed that Energy Healing played a significant and positive role in the healing process. Specifically, the study reports, "they acquired significantly fewer new AIDS-defining illnesses; they had noted decrease and/or elimination of various secondary diseases; they had lower illness severity and required significantly fewer doctor visits, fewer hospitalizations and fewer days in the hospital." Since opportunistic diseases are seen as 'the real killers' of AIDS patients, due to the patient's lowered immune systems, these results are considered highly important.

Hypersenstivity & Self Protection
